Communication and Marketing Office

The Communication & Marketing Office (CMO) is the University of Bern's overarching authority for all matters relating to communication and marketing.

The Communication & Marketing Office provides information about the University of Bern itself, its services, its benefits, and its standing with the aim of building respect, trust, understanding, and commitment among the reference groups. The Communication & Marketing Office also creates strategically overarching foundations for the communication and marketing activities of all offices at the University, particularly with regard to

  • Reference groups and messages
  • Corporate identity and corporate design
  • Online presence and social media
  • Media and image work

The CMO has direct contacts for representatives of the media, faculties, centers, and institutes.

Organization

The Communication & Marketing Office is organizationally divided into the department management and four units: Corporate Publishing, Media Relations, Relationship Management, and Online Marketing.mThe department management consists of staff and support. It is also responsible for internal communication, graphics and the Career Service.

Corporate Publishing is responsible for all journalistic forms of communication. Its responsibilities include the magazines «uniFOKUS» and «uniAKTUELL».

Media Relations is responsible for media work, media events, and maintaining the University’s relationship with the media. It is also in charge of media monitoring.

Relationship Management supports the University of Bern in its relationships with potential and current students, and organizes events such as the Master’s and Bachelor’s information days. It is also in charge of AlumniBE and the Webshop.

Online Marketing is responsible for the University of Bern's presence on the Internet and on social media. It also supports the internal organizational units with corporate web design, content management systems, quality assurance, web controlling, and social media. science.olympiad.ch

The Science Olympiad Association and the University of Bern have been working together for many years. in 2008, it was decided that the association's administrative office would be affiliated with the University of Bern. Since 2024, it has been administratively affiliated to the Department of Communication & Marketing.

11 Science Olympiads organise workshops, camps, exams and competitions for around 10'000 talented young students annually in astronomy, biology, chemistry, geography, informatics, linguistics, mathematics, philosophy, physics, robotics and economics.

We create encounters between young people and scientists. Together, they think, work - and laugh.

We are a well-rehearsed and interdisciplinary team - the "hub" of the Science Olympiad, so to speak. The office is based at the University of Bern and works closely with the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI).
