Alongside structural and institutional barriers, racism, class, and social background continue to have a profound impact on who is able to pursue and succeed in higher education.

Action Week Against Racism at the University of Bern
21 March is the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. From 23 to 27 March, the University of Bern will host a variety of exciting events, a travelling exhibition and information points offering opportunities for dialogue.
March 2024 / Action week against racism
The Office for Equal Opportunities of the University of Bern is organising two events as part of the 14th Action Week against Racism. On Friday, 15 March at 5:30 pm, the researcher for racism and education, Prof. Dr. Karim Fereidooni, will deliver a guest lecture followed by a panel discussion on the topic of "Racism-sensitive university”. A Living Library will also take place on March 19. This interactive format enables an exchange between event participants and people who have experienced racism as well as other self-reflective activities.
