Preparing for in Front of the Camera
Clothing
When appearing on camera, you should feel as comfortable as possible. When choosing your outfit, consider what makes you feel at ease and how you want to be perceived in your role within the video.
In general, it is best to avoid clothing with small patterns or large logos, as well as completely black or overly bright colours. If you wear makeup or style your hair, it is advisable to bring some makeup and hairstyling essentials on the filming day to make any necessary touch-ups on site.
For filming sessions, it is always recommended to have some water nearby to stay hydrated.
Text
If you need to speak a pre-written script in front of the camera, preparation is key. With thorough preparation, the recording process will be much smoother and more natural. Ideally, you should present the text as freely and expressively as possible. A good rule of thumb for well-written spoken text is that it should be "written to be spoken." Sentences should not be too complex or overly long.
A teleprompter can be used to display text in front of the camera lens, allowing you to read it while maintaining eye contact with the audience. This can be very helpful but should not be underestimated. The key to delivering a good spoken text is that it should sound natural, not read aloud.
