To receive the grant, it is compulsory to sign a grant agreement and to arrange a learning agreement with your home and host universities before the start of the mobility. After the mobility you are required to hand in a final report to the University of Bern.

Green Travel Top-Up for more environmentally friendly travel

SEMP (Erasmus) students who choose to travel to their host country and return to the country of their home university by train, bus, or boat or by a combination of these means of transport may apply for a financial incentive of CHF 100 for environmentally friendly travel.

You will be able to select the option for green travel during the registration process. You will be asked to present proof of purchase of the travel tickets. The incentive can only be payed if the chosen means of transport (train/bus/boat) causes lower CO2 emissions than the airplane for your return trip (to travel to your host country and return to the country of your home university).

The grant will be payed at the beginning of your stay. Should you fail to hand in your return ticket after your exchange within the given time frame you will be required to repay CHF 100.
