Staff Weeks

ENLIGHT regularly organizes Staff Weeks for employees of all ENLIGHT universities. Staff Weeks promote international networking and professional exchange and are also an effective tool for staff development. They offer employees the opportunity to enhance their professional, linguistic, and intercultural skills, gain new impulses for their work, and actively contribute to the development of their institution.

With ENLIGHT Staff Weeks, you can:

  • expand your professional knowledge in a new environment,
  • engage in professional exchange and share best practices,
  • build an international network,
  • strengthen your language and intercultural skills.

Target groups: Staff, lecturers, and researchers at the University of Bern

  1. Register directly via the respective ENLIGHT Staff Week website.
  2. Inform the UniBE ENLIGHT Core Team: enlight@unibe.ch.
  3. Apply for financial support through SEMP staff mobility.

Employees of the University of Bern can receive financial support for participating in ENLIGHT Staff Weeks through the SEMP staff mobility programme (Swiss-European Mobility Programme), which covers travel costs and gives daily allowances.

ENLIGHT Staff Weeks are held in English. The language courses offered by the University of Bern’s Language Centre are a great opportunity to refresh your language skills and prepare for international exchange.

All semester and block courses at the Language Centre are also open to University of Bern staff (excluding courses for exchange students and tailor-made offers). The courses are subject to fees – check with your supervisor whether the costs can be covered by your employer.

More information on course levels, fees, dates, and registration can be found on the Language Centre website.

Staff Week HR in Transition – Personnel Development Today and Tomorrow (🇩🇪 University of Göttingen)

I found the professional networking with colleagues from the ENLIGHT network very enriching. It is a great opportunity for employees of the University of Bern to exchange ideas internationally and be inspired by other experts.

Staff Week Welcome Services for International Students and Staff (🇪🇸University of the Basque Country)

The best thing for me was getting to know the partners you are working with. You not only see and meet the staff of the host institution but also connect with other partner universities. Thus, it is a great networking opportunity. Ultimately, it's the people you work with, rather than the institutions, who make a partnership thrive.

Staff Week Impactful Collaboration (🇸🇪Uppsala University)

The exchange with colleagues from the ENLIGHT partner universities has provided me with valuable inspiration for my own work. Although each university operates in its own individual context, we pursue similar goals and have to overcome common challenges. Thanks to the Staff Week, I got to know the head of the Ideas Lab in Galway, who gave me relevant learnings for our Ideas Lab project.
