The Prix Lux 2018 goes to Prof. Dr. med. Mihai Constantinescu and his team from the Department of Plastic Reconstructive Medicine at the Inselspital Bern. Since Prof. Constantinescu took up the position of chief physician in February 2013, the gender ratio in the Department of Plastic Reconstructive Surgery has changed from 1:7 to 1:1. At that time there were no female senior physicians in the department, today there are four of them. The jury of the Prix Lux was impressed by the fact that under the direction of Prof. Constantinescu, the Department of Plastic Reconstructive Surgery is committed to equal opportunities and to making it possible to combine a highly complex and exciting profession with family responsibilities.
