Done Being Nice! Increase your Assertiveness in Institutional Power Games

In the business world as well as in universities, power games and assertiveness strategies are gaining in importance with every career step. Did you ever happen to notice that “games” were being played to which you did not only not know the rules but also had no idea how to play along with? This course reveals and decodes unspoken rules and behaviour patterns, guides you through a world full of scheming, traps and tricks, and shows you how to achieve greater room for manoeuvre and increased assertiveness.

Goals:
The participants:
- are aware of possible obstacles on their career path
- know the essential rules in power games and how to play along
- are able to decide in any given power situation whether they want to participate in the game or not and thus gain more ease and freedom of choice
- are able to make themselves heard and listened to
Costs:
- CHF 100.- for staff of the University of Bern
- CHF 150.- for external participants
Course language:
Workshop language is English, group work and exercises can be done in English and German.
