Office for Sustainable Development

The Office for Sustainable Development deals with the integration of the cross-cutting issue of sustainability.

The Office for Sustainable Development supports the integration of the cross-cutting issue of sustainability into all areas of the university (teaching, research, continuing education, public relations and operations) by encouraging, supporting and linking sustainability activities in these areas.

Sustainability activities

The Office for Sustainable Development encourages initiatives in the areas of teaching, research, public relations and operations and supports projects and persons contributing toward an enhancement of sustainability at the University of Bern.

Coordination

The Office for Sustainable Development links the various existing sustainability activities and makes them visible internally and externally. It also manages the secretariat of the Commission for Sustainable Development of the University of Bern.

Commission for Sustainable Development

The Commission for Sustainable Development advises the Executive Board of the University of Bern in all matters pertaining to sustainable development in teaching, research, continuing education and services and at the level of operations and the overall university.

All faculties, the Executive Board of the University of Bern, the intermediate staff, the students as well as the Administrative Director's Office and CDE are represented in the Commission for Sustainable Development. The Commission is chaired by the Vice-Rector for Quality and Sustainable Development, Prof. Dr. Heike Mayer.
