Students and employees of the BFH and the PH Bern

Registration

Students and employees of the BFH and the PH Bern may register for the courses. Participation in the courses is subject to a fee.

The BFH pays the course fees for exchange students but not for regular students and those who receive ESKAS scholarships. Please contact the International Office of your department at the BFH to find out whether the fees for a German course can be covered.

PH exchange students and Erasmus+ students should enquire at internationaloffice@phbern.ch whether the fees for a German course can be covered.

Fees for English courses must be paid directly by participants.

Registration for semester courses opens approximately two weeks before the start of the semester. The exact date and a link to the placement test will be published in German and English.

  • You have never attended a UniBE language semester course: the placement test is obligatory. You can only register for a course after taking the placement test. (The number of participants is limited to 20 per course.)
  • You have an international language certificate (not older than 12 months: please contact the secretariat (info.daf@unibe.ch or info.aes@unibe.ch). In this case, you can be exempted from the placement test.
  • You successfully completed a semester course last semester: you will receive a link to register for a course at your target level.

If a course is full, you can register for a place on the waiting list. You will be informed by email if you can join the course. Please check your emails regularly.

You can register for a block course without a placement test. Further information including registration deadlines can be found here.

After the course begins, you will receive a payment link by email.

Conditions of participation

Because the semester courses are taught at a fast pace, students are required to attend at least 80% of all the sessions and complete self-study tasks. For the block courses, we also expect regular attendance and the completion of assignments.
