Occupational Medicine

Occupational Medicine makes a practical and conceptual contribution to preventing work-related health problems among employees of the University of Bern.

  • Organization/implementation of occupational medical examinations, consultations and definition of adequate measures for dealing with special hazards according to FCOS guidelines.
  • Risk assessment, consultation, and recommendation for adequate measures in the context of maternity protection
  • Involvement of the specialized security office in the following cases: Assessment of the harmful effects of external factors on the health of employees through on-site workplace investigations, advice on occupational health issues and activities subject to monitoring, definition of measures to prevent occupational diseases and work-related health disorders.
  • Advising HR and other “health protection actors” on matters related to the promotion, preservation, and restoration of health and the work and work capacity of university employees.
