Institutional Accreditation
According to the Higher Education Promotion and Coordination Act (HFKG), institutional accreditation is a prerequisite for the right to use the title ‘university’ and for receiving federal funding as provided for in the HFKG.
The University of Bern received accreditation from the Swiss Accreditation Council on September 24, 2021, for a period of seven years without any conditions.
In their report, the evaluators gave the University of Bern a very high rating. Their analyses and evaluations led them to conclude that the University of Bern has an effective quality assurance system that covers all areas and processes of the university. The evaluators positively mentioned the successful participation of all faculties, bodies and central administration staff in the development, implementation and execution of the QSE processes.
