Motorway tax sticker

To travel legally on motorways in Switzerland, each automobile must display a “vignette” (motorway tax sticker) on the inside of the windshield. The sticker costs 40 CHF and is valid for the calendar year plus a one-month grace period, from January 1 through January 31 of the following year. Stickers are available from automobile clubs abroad, from officials at the border, and at petrol stations located near border crossings.
