health Risk Adapt

healthRiskADAPT (hRA) is a European research project involving more than 20 parties from 12 countries. The aim is to develop pan-European guidelines for four climate change risks (heat, air quality, pollen, forest fires). Specific solutions are also being researched, which will be implemented in four pioneering cities (Oslo, Lyon, Naples, Bern).

The ‘Bern Urban Climate’ research group has been tasked with providing pan-European baseline data on heat-related risks as part of the healthRiskADAPT project. A key requirement is that the risk indicators developed can be applied at the city level (100 x 100 m). In addition to model-based approaches, measurement networks will also be set up in the partner cities of Naples and Lyon in the summer of 2026. The project team meets in person once a year in a partner city. In autumn 2026, the meeting will take place in Bern and will be co-organised by the Urban Climate Group.
