Beating the Heat 2026
Conference 09 September 2026, University of Bern
This year's ‘Beating the Heat’ conference brings together practitioners, policymakers and researchers to address the challenges of urban heat and explore ways to create climate-resilient cities. We want to provide a platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange and networking to strengthen dialogue between the Swiss research, service and implementation communities. A particular focus will be on ‘social engagement and public relations’. The conference thus offers an opportunity to present and discuss findings from various disciplines, initiatives and projects that deal with the interactions between cities, climate change and society.
Contributions
We invite contributions that address all aspects of urban heat, including measurement and monitoring, modelling and simulation, health and societal impacts, adaptation and mitigation strategies, and forms of social engagement and public outreach. We particularly welcome multidisciplinary submissions and contributions from practitioners in the following three areas:
1) measurement and modelling
2) impacts, mitigation and resilience
3) social engagement and public outreach
