Sub-strategy 4: Promoting early career researchers

Strategic objective: The University of Bern promotes early career researchers and positions itself as an attractive employer.

The University is optimizing its efforts to promote early career researchers and making it easier to plan academic career paths. The aim of these efforts is to attract aspiring academics and offer them development opportunities that will help give them a competitive edge internationally. The University is improving employment conditions for young researchers, bolstering their scientific independence and ensuring that they are more involved in decision-making processes.

Early career researchers are supported from the moment they begin their research and teaching. At the doctoral level, the University is expanding its structured training program that develops disciplinary, interdisciplinary, methodological and transversal skills. The University is addressing the concerns regarding research evaluation stated in the DORA Declaration in its promotion of early career researchers.
