University Sports Bern does not itself offer riding lessons but students at the University of Bern, University of Teacher Education Bern and Bern University of Applied Sciences have the option of taking part in the activities offered by Bern's Academic Riding Club (ARK).

Although ARK is not a riding school, it however maintains contact with three stables in the vicinity of Bern. This allows members of ARK to benefit from reduced rates for riding lessons (all levels) – see below.

So enthusiasts can spend an enjoyable weekend riding in the company of others (small groups), ARK regularly organizes riding weekends in the south of Germany. The activities on offer range from dressage through show jumping to hacking with or without obstacles.

ARK additionally cultivates social contact via regular organized meetings at inns and arranges outings to equestrian trade fairs, shows and sporting events. Student tournaments are also staged by various universities, so allowing young riders to compete with other students on a national and international scale. The dressage and show jumping tournaments start at Brevet level, rising from round to round toward L/M. Don't have your own horse? No problem! At the student tournaments participants ride on horses provided by the organizers.
