Climatology II
The course covers the physical processes occurring at the Earth's surface and in the planetary boundary layer. Starting with radiation and energy balance, vertical exchange processes and the structure of the planetary boundary layer are discussed. Based on these elements, several typical local boundary layer climates are described (Arctic boundary layer, marine boundary layer, etc.), with a focus on urban climate. In the last part of the course, several atmospheric chemical processes are presented and, in combination with boundary layer meteorology, the spread of pollutants is discussed.
