The sustainability of the catering is a central strategic goal of the Foundation.
Measures
The Canteen Operations Foundationn works with its catering partners to define a catalog of measures with suitable tools for implementation, communication, and controlling. This forms the basis for the operator's annual sustainability action plan.
The sustainability of catering is divided into four key areas.

The Canteen Operations Foundationn operates one location in cooperation with Bakery Bakery.
In September 2013, the University of Bern became the first university worldwide to receive the “Blue University” label. Since 2024, all university cafeterias and cafés have drinking fountains marked with a “Blue University Bern” sticker, where you can fill your own water bottle with fresh tap water. For catering and events for up to 100 people, catering partner ZFV offers tap water, still and sparkling, in liter bottles. This pre-filled water can be ordered one working day in advance for orders of up to 50 people and two working days in advance for orders of 51 to 100 people via the catering web shop.
