University of Bern Registrations
Funding organizations
To submit an application to a funding organization, the University of Bern generally needs to be registered in their system. As a rule, you also need an individual account. Below you will find registration information for the major public funding agencies.
Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF)
mySNF and the SNSF Portal are the SNSF webplatforms and enable interaction between applicants, reviewers, research institutions and the administrative offices of the SNSF. They facilitate the submission, evaluation and administration of applications and projects. The SNSF Portal will gradually replace mySNF.

Invoicing on external platforms
There is a growing requirement to register on external platforms (“vendor registration”) in order to invoice public institutions abroad. The Finance Office has already set up and maintains university-wide accounts on some of these platforms. Examples: PaymentWorks (US universities), ChorusPro (French public organisations), Peppol (German and other European public organisations).
If you are requested by the invoice recipient to create an account, please contact your finance representative in the Finance Office. The Finance Office will handle the invoicing.

US organizations often require confirmation that the University of Bern is not subject to tax in the USA. This confirmation is made using the so-called W-8BEN-E form (internal page; see "Dokumente"). For US Federal Grants (e.g. NIH, DoD, NSF, USDA, NASA), you must involve the Grants Office.
