Accessing VIBE
Getting access
The VIBE platform is in an transition phase and will be made broadly accessible in test mode around June 2026. In an initial phase the platform will be broadly usable using generic UBELIX free resources.
In a second phase in Q4 of 2026, you will have the possibility to become a VIBE user and access to the platfrom via dedicated hardware. This will ensure that you are not waiting too long to get a session to start. To become a user, your lab will have to subscribe to the platform and pay a fee. Get in touch with us (ruben.lopez@unibe.ch) to get help and learn more!
For more practical information on how access VIBE and UBELIX see here.
Fees
The fee structure is not yet finalized yet and will depend on the number of interested users and available computational resources. However we plan a cost structure of the following type:
- a fixed fee to get access to the platform. This fee allows us to maintain the platfrom and provide support. This fee includes support hours by the VIBE team for: onboarding, consulting, adding tools to the platfrom etc. Currently the fee is set at 2000 CHF / year for groups up with up to 5 users and includes 20 hours of support. Each additional user costs an additional 200 CHF / year, inlusing 2h of support.
- a usage fee: this fee is aligned with the generic UBELIX costs and is based on the resources used (see here)
The above fee structure is the generic offer of VIBE. There might be specific uses cases requiring tailored solutions that can be discussed with the VIBE team (get in touch with guillaume.witz@unibe.ch). For example:
- you might want to use the platform for trainings. In that case we will probably give access to a specific deployment that uses dedicated UBELIX training resources
- you might want to invest in your own hardware e.g. to ensure 100% accessibility to computational resources
