About the program
The WTI offers you a unique opportunity to update and deepen your knowledge of international economic governance, trade and investment by participating in intensive, week-long courses on a wide range of topics. These interdisciplinary courses, which are part of the Master in International Law, Economics and Politics (MILE) program and the Master in International Trade and Investment Law (TRAIL+), are taught by a faculty of renowned experts and practitioners.
Participants interested in taking single weekly courses can do so on an à la carte basis, as a part of our WTI Academy.
Courses
The Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in International Law, Economics and Politics is designed for professionals seeking to expand their knowledge in a flexible, modular format. Participants complete approximately three WTI Academy courses (8 ECTS) and a supervised research paper (4 ECTS), earning a total of 12 ECTS upon successful completion. The research paper provides an opportunity to explore a topic of particular professional or academic interest under the guidance of an experienced faculty member.

Important information on requirements, applying and qualifications
Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree in law, economics, international relations, political science, or a related discipline. At least one year of relevant professional experience is strongly recommended. Applicants whose first language is not English are required to submit a valid TOEFL or IELTS test score as proof of English proficiency. The tution fee for a CAS is CHF 5200. Established in 1999, MILE is the flagship programme of the World Trade Institute. The TRAIL+ Program is an intensive, one-year graduate program that merges an LL.M. in International Trade and Investment Law with a Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS) in International Law, Economics and Politics. The TRAIL+ is an advanced program that combines an LL.M. in Trade and Investment law with a Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS) in international law, economics and Politics. It is offered at the World Trade Institute in cooperation with the Faculty of Law of the University of Bern, as part of their Continuing Legal Education (“Weiterbildungsprogramm in Rechtswissenschaft”). It is specifically designed for legal professionals and law graduates looking to deepen their expertise in global trade, investment, and regulatory frameworks.
