«Diversity and intersectional approaches: Implications for analysis of the (ongoing) pandemic»

Montag, 26.09.2022, 18:15 Uhr

While measurement through indicators is an important part of policy evaluation during the (ongoing) pandemic, I argue that measurement may create aggregate categories (such as ‘third world’ vs. ‘first world’) and obscure the social inequalities and multitudes of identities within them (such as caste, class, race, age, sexual orientation). I hence illustrate some alternative approaches, such as those of intersectionality and problematization, to analyse inequalities within aggregates in a more nuanced manner.
