Picking up on digital trends and exploiting them commercially? It's possible - with a well elaborated business model.

 

Start-ups - the agile speedboats among companies - can pick up on the high pace of digitalisation and enrich society with innovative solutions. However, their successful foundation is based on a good business model. In this module you will learn what distinguishes a good business model from a bad one and whether new start-ups should also develop a comprehensive business plan.

Learning outcomes:

Students will be able to…

  • explain what a (digital) business model and a business plan are.
  • explain the success factors for (digital) business models and business plans.
  • analyse and critically question an existing business model with the help of the BMC.
  • identify the advantages and disadvantages of creating a business plan.
  • better grasp and reflect on current entrepreneurial developments.

Eligibility requirements: Affiliation with a Swiss university
Credit transfer to study program:
The possibility of crediting the module to one's own study program must currently be agreed upon bilaterally with each respective study program.
Authorship: The module was developed in a cooperation between Department of Management and Entrepreneurship, the Learning and Development Unit and the Support Center for ICT-Aided Teaching and Research (iLUB).
Completion: Students receive a confirmation of completion upon successful completion of this module.
