«Open Round» to Support Postdocs

The «Open Round» supports offers, activities and measures from the faculties and the intermediate staff that support postdocs in innovative ways, help them network, expand their skills, improve their (academic and non-academic) career prospects, or otherwise strengthen their position.

All persons employed at the University of Bern are eligible to apply. The funds cannot be used to continue financing existing programs, but they can be used for new activities in existing vessels or communities. Support for individuals and research projects are not supported.

Budget and time frame

As a rule, projects in the range of CHF 5,000 to 20,000 are supported.

The application deadline for the «Open Round» is February 16, 2026. The projects must be completed, accounted for, and summarized in a short report by mid-February 2027.

Call and evaluation

The call for the «Open Round» will be announced by the Academic Careers Office in mid-December after the Federal Assembly has approved the Federal budget. Applications will be evaluated by the Academic Careers Office, the Academic Careers Working Group, and the Vice-Rector for International and Academic Careers.
