Human, Dental and Veterinary Medicine

The number of places in Medicine, Dental Medicine and Veterinary Medicine is limited. This is why you have to apply for these three branches of study earlier than for other courses.

Admission and allocation of places in Medicine and Dental Medicine

Places are awarded for a master's in Medicine and Dental Medicine on the following basis and in this order:

  1. Students who graduated as a bachelor in the previous semester at the University of Bern
  2. Applicants who obtained their bachelor's degree at another Swiss university that has an acceptance agreement with the University of Bern
  3. Applicants who graduated as a bachelor from the University of Bern

You can only be admitted if all admission requirements have been fulfilled and there is a place available.

If you graduated as a bachelor more than five years ago, you do not have an automatic right to be admitted to a master's degree program. The Dean can, however, decide on admission based on individual achievement as well as decide on any additional requirements which can be completed during the program of study.
