Parkour is a form of exercise created by David Belle in which the participant, known as the traceur (French:  path tracer), advances from A to the chosen destination of B on the most direct route, overcoming all obstacles encountered along the way.

Traceurs tackle all obstacles as efficiently as possible and without using equipment. The only condition here is that the environment they travel through must remain unchanged by their passage. When practicing this sport, participants do not want to be restricted in their movements so they can give free rein to their creativity. Their progress from A to B is not merely a means to an end but the very essence of this activity, so presenting itself to us in its purest form.

Parkour is mainly practiced in an urban setting, although it can be performed anywhere and is not tied to any specific environment.
