Senate
The Senate is the supreme governing authority of the University. Among other things it adopts rules for the entire University, passes multi-year and financial plans and issues statements on matters that concern the University as a whole.
Composition and responsibilities
The Senate comprises the Rector, the Dean, faculty delegates, lecturers, assistance and students. It enacts the university statute and university-wide regulations.
The Senate decides upon the multi-year and financial plan and approves the annual and performance report. It makes the key decisions regarding the organization and selects the members of the permanent committees. It proposes the selection or nomination of members of the Executive Board of the University of Bern.
