BORIS Repository

Don't hesitate to contact us, if you have any questions.

BORIS (Bern Open Repository and Information System) is the institutional repository of the University of Bern and the Bern University Hospital. The repository is part of the Open Access strategy of the University of Bern: It offers worldwide and open access- providing there are no legal obstacles to this - to research from the higher education institution.

The tasks of BORIS are defined in the Open Access Policy of the University of Bern. According to this policy, the Executive Board of the University of Bern obligates its researchers to store

  • a complete version of all appraised and published academic work
  • along with the relevant bibliographic information

BORIS thus supports alleviated access to research results. Furthermore, the repository, as an information platform, is intended to increase the visibility of Bernese research. Due to the active dispersion and technical editing of the data (bibliographic details and full text), search engines can find the research more easily.

BORIS is also an input portal for the publication data used by the Office of the Vice President for Research and Medical Dean's Office to evaluate research.
