Promotion of early career researchers
At the University of Bern, disproportionately more women than men drop out of academic careers, especially after the doctorate. The myth of women's self-elimination in academic careers is still circulating, although it can be refuted with various facts. The so-called "leaky pipeline" is rather based on various hurdles that women encounter more frequently. In order to reduce these hurdles, the University of Bern provides targeted career support for women: In addition to the career programme Coaching, Mentoring & Training COMET and various mentoring programmes, it offers courses and individual coaching for young female academics.
