Video communication

Lecturers, employees and students at the University of Bern may use mobile video communication by installing the relevant software on their personal devices.

Several rooms are equipped with video technology for conferences or lectures. These rooms must be reserved and tested in advance.

Installation guide

Requirements:

To be able to communicate by video (image and sound), you will need a camera and possibly a headset. 

  • Download the software from our Vidyo portal (The operating system is automatically recognized)
  • Install the software on your PC or mobile device
  • Under VidyoPortal, enter the following address: https://videoconf.switch.ch/
  • For user names and passwords, use those from your campus account

For group discussions convened at short notice, we recommend the following solution for a meeting in a room without video conferencing equipment.

Procedure

  1. Reserve a room with an LCD monitor or a projector
  2. Reserve the Conference Cam
  3. Connect components to the laptop
  4. Connect the laptop to the LCD monitor or projector
  5. Start Vidyo Desktop
