The University of Bern allows its researchers a great deal of freedom so as not to hinder the search for new insights and the expansion of knowledge boundaries. However, the researchers' freedom is not absolute; they must align themselves with ethical and moral values, abide by laws and rules, preserve their scientific integrity, and deal responsibly with the funding and resources that have been entrusted to them. The University Board of Directors is dedicated to keeping research in Bern fair and correct.
