EU/EFTA nationals
Thanks to the agreement on the free movement of persons, citizens of the EU-17 and EU-8 countries are permitted to enter Switzerland and live and work there. However, entry restrictions apply to people from Bulgaria, Romania and Croatia.

For third-country nationals, access to the Swiss labor market is based on a quota system. You are free to apply for jobs in Switzerland, but to work here you will need a work permit. it is up to employers to submit applications for work permits to the cantonal employment authorities.
