Christian Degen takes over the management of the Communication & Marketing Office of the University of Bern

From 01 January 2018, Christian Degen will be in charge of the Communication & Marketing Office of the University of Bern. There is also a change in the management of the Corporate Communication area.

Christian Degen has worked for over 20 years in the field of Media and Communication. He currently offers advice and support for Think Tank metrobasel projects. Previously, Degen was the managing director and chief editor of the Basel TagesWoche. As a former chief editor of the Coopzeitung, where he was greatly involved in its new concept and reorganisation, he brings his own experience to the field of corporate communication and marketing.

Degen is 47 and lives in the region of Basel. He studied German studies and geography at the University of Basel, after which he completed training in Corporate Communications and then earned a Master’s degree in "New Media Journalism" at the University of Leipzig in 2013.

Christian Degen succeeds Stephan Oberholzer, who will be leaving the University of Bern at the end of November. The University of Bern thanks Stephan Oberholzer for the work he has accomplished.

Change in the management of the Corporate Communication area
Marcus Moser, Head of the Corporate Communication area at the University of Bern, is leaving the Communication & Marketing Office at the end of December 2017. He will be taking over the management of the Forum for University and Society (Forum für Universität und Gesellschaft, FUG). The current manager Dr. Martina Dubach will be retiring. The Executive Board of the University would like to thank her for her long-standing and dedicated work.

Moser, born in 1962, has managed the Communication section since 2004 and the Corporate Communication area since 2014. The Executive Board of the University would like to thank Marcus Moser for the work he has accomplished and to wish him all the best and much success in his new challenge at the FUG.

Brigit Bucher will take over the management of the Corporate Communication area ad interim. She is 42 and has studied English studies, journalism and communication studies at the Universities of Bern and Fribourg. Bucher is a federally certified PR consultant and has been Deputy Office Manager since 2015.
