Vetsuisse Library

Opening hours

The Vetsuisse Library is a sub-library of the University Library Bern (UB). It contains books and journals on veterinary medicine. Its collections are primarily intended for students of veterinary medicine. The collections can be searched for using the swissbib Basel Bern catalog.

Short-term loans (three days) are only possible for students of veterinary medicine and staff of the Small Animal Clinic. Before borrowing for the first time, please contact the librarian as the library pass needs to be activated for the collections of the Vetsuisse Library. Journals may be photocopied on site at the sole copyright responsibility of the user but cannot be borrowed.

The selection of media in the library is geared first and foremost to the needs of students and researchers of veterinary medicine. The media can be searched for via swissbib Basel Bern.
The media of the Vetsuisse Library are ordered by shelfmark in the open access area.

Books and PhD dissertations

You can search through the book collection on a presorted basis by author or subject area using the research assistance. You will also find links to PhD dissertations of the Bern and Zurich Vetsuisse Faculties in the research assistance.

The veterinary medicine list of e-journals of the University Library Bern (UB) lists the titles of electronic journals that are licensed for the University of Bern and accessible (with restrictions) in a full text version. You can search by title / ISSN of the journal or scroll down in the "Medical Disciplines" search slot to Veterinary Medicine where the licensed journals on veterinary medicine will be displayed. A direct search for journal articles can be carried out via swissbib Basel Bern. Access is possible from outside the campus via WebVPN for members of the university.

You can make photocopies of print journals at your own copyright responsibility. Current volumes can be found in the journals rack. Older series are stored in the library's mobile shelving or in the vonRoll storage facilities.   Free PDFs can be ordered online via the catalog from journals stored in the vonRoll storage facilities as long as you have an @vetsuisse address. The list of the entire collection of journals contains information about all completed and current print journals and their locations.
