Lacrosse is a type of ball game involving two teams of ten players using mesh-strung lacrosse sticks. The aim here is to shoot a hard rubber ball weighing some 150 grams into the opponent's goal. To do so, players use an implement with a sort of pocket to it (known as a crosse or lacrosse stick). Besides shooting goals and passing the ball to other players, it is also permitted to run with the ball and tackle opponents with the ball using the stick (stick checks) to try and take it off them. In men's lacrosse the length of the stick varies between 1m (attackers) and 1.80m (defenders). Body checking is also permitted, as in hockey.
