What is a Master's Degree?

The master's degree program worth 90 or 120 ECTS credits lasts three or four semesters (= one and a half or two years of full-time study), with the study content designed to further develop someone's academic expertise.

It can be taken as a consecutive master's program in the same subject as the bachelor's degree or as a specialized master's degree program with the focus on a specific topic. Anyone prepared to achieve additional attainments as part of their bachelor's course may also study a non-consecutive master's program.

A master's degree is a prerequisite for a doctorate.
