The German as a Foreign Language courses are aimed at students who want to be able to communicate in German in their private and university surroundings. Courses are on offer from levels A1 through C2 in accordance with the Common European Framework.
New course participants must take an online aptitude test if they do not have an official certificate gained in the last twelve months.
Starting the course later than one week after the official course begin is only possible as an absolute exception.
If you want to know more about levels A1 to C2, take a look at the self-assessment grid which you can use to assess your capabilities. The grid corresponds to the framework of reference for languages put together by the Council of Europe according to which examinations and teaching materials for German as a Foreign Language are oriented.
Learning involved for the individual levels
|Level||Lessons of 45 mins||Linguistic expertise|
|C2||at least 200||Proficient speaker|
In other words, you must learn a lot outside the course if you want to pass the various levels (A1 to C2) within six to eight semesters. We would recommend you continue learning intensively in the vacations and/or visit an intensive course.
