The Research Café is organised and managed by the University of Bern together with the Science et Cité Foundation and Volkshochschule Bern. Interested members of the public are invited to a conversation with the experts on the first Monday of every month.

The Collegium generale is the oldest interdisciplinary institution of the University of Bern as a whole. Its purpose is to promote interdisciplinary dialogue within the University by holding events for instructors and students. The Collegium generale also presents examples of the University's work through publications and readings for members of all faculties as well as the general public.

Forum für Universität und Gesellschaft is an autonomous entity attached to the University. It acts on the University's behalf as a bridge between the University and society at large. This function is reflected in the makeup of its members, who are drawn from various University units and from the government, business and cultural communities.

The Ombudsman or the Ombudswoman is absolutely independent of the University's governing authorities. University of Bern employees who have job-related complaints can contact him directly.
